Harbottle, Sharon Lynn

April 5th, 1963 – February 20th, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Sharon Lynn Harbottle of Clarksburg, ON announces her passing on February 20th, 2023 at the Meaford Hospital following her short battle with cancer. Sharon was surrounded and supported by her loved ones the entire time.

Sharon is survived by her husband Dean and her four loving children Madelene, Hillary, Scott and Grant. She will be dearly missed by her mother Linda Scott and was predeceased by her father Johnston Scott in 2019.

She was the dear sister of Karen Strong (husband Craig), John Scott, and Pamela Scott-Bovens (husband Mike). Sharon will be missed by her sister-in-law Deborah Harbottle, brother-in-law Dale Harbottle (partner Lori), and by her nieces and nephews.

To family and friends Sharon was known as a devoted mother, cherished daughter, beloved sister, and patient wonderful wife; always supporting and uplifting those around her. Her beautiful smile, kind soul, and witty humour were infectious. The door was always open and whether it be for a home cooked meal or a place to stay, her home and her heart were always full. Sharon’s primary focus was her family and raising her 4 children along with owning/running her farm and a successful business for 30 years with husband Dean. Sharon was close with all of her family members and loved hosting family gatherings; a true culinary genius.

Brilliant and honest with an uncanny ability to see possibilities over obstacles, Sharon turned everything into a fun adventure. When not working Sharon enjoyed spending time with her many horses, a lifelong dream of hers, and could often be found on the coldest of nights out in the barn brushing her horses with a smile on her face. Many fond memories were made at the family cottage on Lake Eugenia where Sharon enjoyed boating, paddling, and floating on the water.

Sharon will be lovingly missed by all those who knew her, and she will forever and always be in our hearts.

Thank you to the amazing nurses at the Meaford Hospital for the care and compassion you’ve shown Sharon and her family, your kindness will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place and a private funeral service will be held in Sharon’s honour. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support; but does ask for privacy during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to either of the following charities: the Glioblastoma Foundation or the Meaford Hospital Foundation, and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.   www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

I’m so sorry to hear about dear Sharon. When we were growing up it was always fun when we were visiting the Scott family. All you guys were so inviting and fun to hang out with. We are praying for you all at the Shepherd family. It kind of warms my heart that the picture of Sharon has her wrapped in one of my mum’s Afghans. If there is anything we can do please don’t hesitate to ask.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Our family was very close to the Scott family. I remember when we used to live next door to each other in LaSalle. After we moved to Ontario we didn’t see much of your family until you moved to Ontario and then it was like we hadn’t been apart for a while. I visited with Sharon and her mum, Linda, in July while I was in Ontario visiting family and friends. My deepest sympathies to both the Scott and Harbottle families.

    Dear Karen and Craig,
With heartfelt thoughts, we send this message of condolences on the loss of your dear sister Sharon.
Remember sisters are a special part of the family that God has given us. The enduring love and connection he placed in our hearts from the moment we were born, through childhood, adolescence, and adult life is a gift that we can cherish and hold onto even when our sister looks down on us from above, winks at us through dappled light and wraps us like a blanket with the warmth she casts in rays of sunshine.
Hold this sisterhood close to your heart as you move forward in the days that come.
Sincerely, Angela (Angie) and Greg Bourne (your lifelong friends)
