Goodhand, Suzette Whitney

Suzette Whitney Goodhand (nee Keefler), born in Montreal November 1928 and residing at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre at the age of 92, passed away peacefully on February 25th.

Suzette was a legal secretary and worked office administration for the government of Ontario. But more importantly she was first a devoted wife and mother. To continue her learning she volunteered for many years as a tour guide for several departments and exhibitions at the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. She also volunteered at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Most cherished memories are of family gatherings celebrated by indulging in great food and company. When her husband, Derek, retired they moved to the town of The Blue Mountains. Where she enjoyed hiking the Bruce Trail and cross country skiing. Also, many vacations were enjoyed touring the world, experiencing different cultures, and climbing every mountain they could find!

Suzette and Derek were married in Ancaster, Ontario in 1956 and were starting their 65th year of a joyful committed relationship. Suzette is survived by her husband Derek Goodhand, her children Jane Smith, Michael Goodhand (Sandra Gosselin), her nephew Chris Goodhand (Carin), and her two grandchildren Alexei and Chloe Goodhand.

Dear Sandra, Michael, Jane, Alexei and Chloé,
I offer you my deepest condolences.
We will keep fond memories of Mrs. Goodhand who was very generous with us, welcoming us to her house and country house for weekends of ski every winter.
She was an inspiring woman and had wonderful stories to share about her travelling and hiking. I loved listening to her.
    May she rest in peace.

Thank-you for sending your kind message and your memories of my mother! The last few years have been difficult especially for my dad.
