Leeson, Tanya Jo-Ann

Tanya passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on April 7, 2022 with family by her side, at the age of 62.

Born in Meaford on March 26, 1960, she was the loving daughter of the late Bob and Joan Turner.

She is survived by her brother Randy Turner (Nancy).

Tanya was a devoted and caring mother to her children, Stephanie Leeson (Doug), and Robert Leeson. She was their strength and guiding light.

She was also very proud of, and enjoyed every minute spent with, her beloved granddaughter, Lia Ramsay, who will always be the apple of her Nana’s eye.

Tanya will also be fondly remembered by her nieces, cousins and their families.

Tanya had remarkable willpower and determination in battling her many health conditions over the years, recently celebrating 10 years of being a double-transplant recipient.  She always tried to have a smile on her face, and a good sense of humour. She was a very selfless person, always putting others before herself. She was also a great advocate for others – it didn’t matter if it was friend, family member, stranger, or animal, she was not afraid to speak up if something didn’t seem right, or to try and help if she saw someone/thing in distress. As an animal lover she brought many pets home, whether a wild bird needing nursing back to health, or to temporarily house a stray pet until she could find its proper owner.  She had a big heart and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Many thanks to all her doctors and health care providers over the years. A special ‘Thank You’ to the entire Toronto General Hospital Transplant Team, especially Andrea and Heather, for your advocacy, support, compassion, and professionalism over the years, and to the very heroic donation that gave her an extra lease on life, for which she was ever so grateful, and did not take for granted, trying to make the most of every extra moment she had been given with her family. Thank you also for the EMTs, ER Doctors and nurses, and to Dr. Juss and the ICU nurses at Grey Bruce Health Services, for your compassionate care and support.  Thank you for all you do!

A Celebration of Tanya’s Life will follow a later date.
