Ross, Thomas Ian 'Tom'
Thomas Ian Ross passed away peacefully at peopleCare Nursing Home in Meaford on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the age of 87.

Born in Sarnia on August 29, 1938, he was a son of the late William Ian and Gertude Irene (nee Stanlake) Ross.
Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia Knox on July 15, 2025.
He was the much-loved father of Heather Lawn (Marty) and was predeceased by his son Kevin Ross. He will be remembered fondly by Patricia’s children, Jim Knox (Trish) and Virginia Knox (Brian). Tom was the proud grandfather of Hayley and Kaiya Lawn; and Hayden, Liam and Tyler Knox.
Dear brother of Ruth Ann Ross and was predeceased by his brother Donald William Ross. He will be fondly remembered by his niece Barbara and nephew Martin as well as his sister-in-law, Bette Ross.
Tom was an engineer in the military for many years, reaching the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. During his time serving, he was stationed in Alert for six months at a time. After leaving the military, he and his family moved from B.C. to Alberta. He had many skills and talents; Tom spoke German, Russian, and French and was a plumber and heating technician on top of his military service.
Tom began with the Masons in Alberta. He moved up in the Masons and became The Worshipful Master in his Lodge in Calgary. Tom went on to The Grand Lodge of Alberta and held the position of Junior Warden. He was very active in Calgary and enjoyed his time immensely travelling around the province of Alberta and attending many meetings in other provinces throughout his time in Calgary. Tom eventually moved to Meaford, Ontario where he joined Meaford’s Pythagoras Lodge #137. He held many positions and enjoyed the friendship of the Pythagoras Lodge and many other lodges in the area. Tom remained a member until he could no longer attend due to health issues. Tom was also a member of the Owen Sound Legion Branch #6.
He was very dedicated to his adoring wife Patricia and they very much enjoyed their life together, especially when travelling. Tom enriched the lives of Patricia’s family and grandsons through his commitment to their grandmother and they have all become better men due to his example. He was kind, hardworking and knowledgeable and will be remembered as a wonderful friend.
A service celebrating Tom’s life will be conducted at Knox Presbyterian Church in Meaford on April 25, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, where Patricia and Tom will be laid to rest together.
