We have known Tom for almost 40 years, I was a little sceptical at first about the man dating my mother, but if she trusted him, and so should I, it didn’t take long to see that he was the right man for her. He was a strong, compassionate and loving person who enjoyed life. They have done a lot of travelling over the years and for those of you who don’t know that’s one of my mother’s favourite things to do. Tom was very passionate about taking pictures and I can tell you this from experience as I have seen thousands of them and not because I always wanted to Tom. Also very passionate about sports. He loved his Blue Jays and of course the doomed Buffalo Bills I used to say wide right just to get a rise out of him.
Tom, was the father figure in our lives but more importantly he was my friend. He helped me become the person I am today I think about the times that we had together. I believe the moment accepted Tom 100% into my heart was when I asked him just after my daughter’s first birthday. It would be okay to call grandpa and of course he graciously accepted.
my mom had told me a few weeks later that he was really thrilled by this.
Since then our family has grown I have two daughters and three granddaughters. My brother Rick has a daughter and son and Cindy has a daughter that is an amazing achievement to be a five-time grand grandfather and a three-time great grandfather.
There’s a lot more memories to share, but I’m trying to keep this short and sweet

You were a big part of our lives and will be greatly missed. Thank you for everything

    We love you, Tom

    My Grandpa

My grandpa lived an amazing life filled with adventure. It’s a life not many get to say they lived, and he got to do it with someone he loved; my beautiful grandma.
I have so many wonderful memories with and of my grandpa, and i’m so thankful for them. One of my favourite childhood memories was when my sister, cousin and I would stay at my grandparents house for a sleepover. In the morning he’d make his famous banana pancakes. I won’t lie, for awhile I really didn’t like those pancakes, but I saw how proud he was to make these pancakes for all of us so I would eat them without complaint. As I grew older, they grew on me and now they’re a breakfast food I cook my daughter. He also was the first (and only person to this day) that showed me how delicious it is to put yogurt on your pancakes.
I’ll miss his warm greetings, strong forehead kisses, and the way he called all us girl grandchildren “darling”.
Every time I saw him, he always had a story to tell… even if I wasn’t ever in a mood he made sure to still tell his story lol. He had so much passion for life, education, travel and sports. You were lucky if you ever got to travel with him. You never needed to worry about planning anything, plus he was always your own personal tour guide. He made sure he had an itinerary planned for the whole trip, to make sure you saw all the beautiful places where you were visiting. He did this so much so that my grandma always had to make sure there was a day or two of just rest to be able to do anything you wanted to do.
I remember just him and I going to a spring training game of the Blue Jays versus the Pittsburg Pirates. I swear he knew every players, and their history. I loved how he explained everything to me.
I’m not sure I ever told him, but I bragged about him and my grandma a lot to others. I love showing people their photo of doing the CN tower walk, or even the time they rode camels in the desert. Everyone was always so impressed by their love of life and travel, and how youthful they are in the photos I showed,
I have so many memories with my grandpa, and i’m thankful he always made us take photos even when we didn’t want to. The last few days i’ve just been going through them and remembering what great times we had as a family. I’m so grateful that Grandpa got to meet my daughter Rhea and bonus child Adelina.
We miss and love you so much Grandpa. I hope your making some banana pancakes and your famous mashed potatoes up there.
