Goodwin, Toni

Toni Goodwin (nee Underdown), a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, in Meaford, Ontario.

Born on August 8, 1939, in Toronto, she lived a life rich with love and laughter that touched everyone around her.
Toni was the proud matriarch of her family. She is survived by her devoted daughter Jan Gourlay-Prinsen and son-in-law John Prinsen; her cherished son Bill Goodwin and daughter-in-law Allison Goodwin-Scarangella; as well as her loving daughter Jo-Anne Belcher and son-in-law Mike Belcher. Toni’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Aaron; Adam; Devin; Brayden; Alannah; Lauryn; Mackenzie; Jennifer; Danielle—and her great-grandchildren Ben, Emmy, Jayden, and Ryder. Each of them carries forward the spirit of kindness and resilience that Toni embodied throughout her life.
A woman of remarkable competitive spirit and passion for sports—Toni found joy in curling matches where she showcased both skill and camaraderie. Her enthusiasm extended to bowling alleys filled with laughter among friends as well as cheering fervently for the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs from the comfort of home or at lively gatherings with family.
For an impressive 27 years at Sheridan College, Toni dedicated herself to her team. Her colleagues remember not only a hard worker but also a friend who brought warmth into every interaction.
Beyond work or sports fields lay another side of Toni: one marked by compassion for animals that mirrored the love she had for those closest to her. Whether it was caring for pets or advocating for animal welfare causes close to heart—her empathy knew no bounds.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at People Care (Meaford) whose high level of care and compassion provided comfort during her residency and final days.

As we gather our memories together—the stories shared over holiday dinners or spontaneous outings—we celebrate not just what we have lost but everything that Toni gave us: unwavering support through life’s challenges coupled with boundless joy in moments big or small will forever remain etched within our hearts.

So very sorry for your loss. My Mother and I met Toni at People Care Meaford and we were fortunate enough to have her at our dining table. Toni had a wonderful sense of humour and we shared many laughs during meals. We will miss her.
