Nye, William James 'Bill'
1933-2026
It is with a sad and heavy heart but wonderful memories that I say goodbye to Bill, my husband, my buddy, my love for 74 years. Bill passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood.

He is survived by his wife Beverley (nee Darby), his children, Bryan (Hilary), Debbie, Barbara (Bernie) and Don (Julie) along with 8 grandsons and 7 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his grandson, Graham.
Bill was born and raised in Toronto but soon after marrying Bev and starting his family, the north was calling. He spent most of his career in North Bay with much of the time at Hoppers Car dealership. Given Bill’s friendliness and openness, he likely knew almost everyone in North Bay at the time. Summer tennis parties on Trout Lake were legendary. After retirement, every winter he and Bev travelled to Florida where more friends were made. Always the entertainer for happy hour, games around the pool and dinners out, he had a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease. Bill was a gentleman in the truest sense – chivalrous, courteous and unfailingly respectful. After night shifts at the hospital, Bev would find Bill waiting to drive her home so she could ride in a warm vehicle after a long night of work. Opening doors, offering a steady arm and treating everyone with dignity came naturally to him. A life marked by hard work, lots of laughter, love of his family and friends and love of God, Bill leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. I would like to thank all the doctors and health care workers who took care of Bill over these past few years.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
