Scammell, Robert 'Bob' William

Bob Scammell of Meaford passed away peacefully at the Meaford Hospital on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 in his 79th year.

Born in Meaford on June 13, 1946, a son of the late Vera (nee Muxlow) and Fred Scammell.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 20 years, Julia Fisher Scammell.

Bob will be missed by his daughter Laurie Widdess (partner Sean) and son Michael Scammell (late Ann), seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bob was a dear brother of Marion Mower (late Ron), Allen Scammell (Joy), was predeceased by his brother John Scammell (Taralea) and will be remembered his by many nieces and nephews.

He will also be remembered fondly by his GBPR Family.

Bob worked at Amerock and at several other companies.  When the tornado hit Barrie, he decided to move closer to home.  Bob worked hard all of his life, he loved helping people and saving those of us who needed it.  He was a mentor and a friend, if you met him in the parking lot, he would always share a good story.  If you were in a hurry, you could count on being late… and don’t even mention Trudeau!

Bob never retired, he started new adventures and still enjoyed working for GBPR until the last couple of weeks.

He always had everyone’s best interests are heart, was a great listener and always gave great advice.

‘I love him and will forever miss him’. Julia

A private family gathering will take place a date to be determined.  Bob’s cremated remains will be placed in the columbarium at Lakeview Cemetery.

Julia, our deepest condolences for your loss. Bob was a wonderful friend and brother-in-law, was genuine and so very generous. He had many tales to tell and didn’t mind offering the right advice whenever you may have needed it. I really enjoyed my walks around the farm with Bob when you both came to visit. I think he enjoyed seeing and talking about the old tractors as much as I did! Some good stories were told and some great memories remain to be cherished.
Bob will be sorely missed by all, whose lives he touched.
    Love you Juls
