Pyatt, Mark James
We are very sad to announce the sudden passing of Mark Pyatt on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in Collingwood at the age of 52.
Born in Meaford on July 2, 1969, Mark was a son of the late James Woolner and Thelma (nee Gill) and Gordon Pyatt.
Mark was the extremely proud father of Gaige, Rachel and Leah Pyatt, and will be remembered fondly by their mother Carrie Pyatt.
He was the much-loved brother of Paul Woolner (Shirley), Sandra Pyatt (Randy), Vicky Broad (John) ,Wanda Pyatt, and was predeceased by his Pyatt siblings; Merilyn, Yvonne, Leslie and Sherrill. He was ‘Uncle Mark’ to many nieces, nephews and their families and will never be forgotten.
Mark’s greatest accomplishment and source of pride was definitely his three children. They were his pride and joy and he wore them like a badge. They meant the world to him. He made sure they had fun no matter what else might be going on. He could make a game out of almost anything, even chores and dishes!
Growing up as a small-town boy in Thornbury, Mark had a very close-knit group of friends who were considered and treated more like family. He valued and cherished them all for their individual and unique qualities. Mark had a way of making everyone feel welcome and never wanted anyone left out. If you were in his company, he considered you a friend. When he entered a room, he made it his personal goal to get, at the very least, a smile out of every person. Mark would do anything for a laugh, usually at his own expense. If you have spent any time socializing with Mark, I’m sure you have experienced his quick wit and witnessed his ‘full moon’.
There are so many wonderful memories of trips and adventures. He loved to entertain family and friends. Mark would spend days planning, packing and preparing to be sure that everything was covered. We are all so very grateful for the time we had with Mark and only wish it could have been longer.
All are welcome to join us to Celebrate Mark’s Life at the Beaver Valley Community Centre in Thornbury on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 4 until 7 p.m., with tributes beginning at 5 p.m. We ask that you bring your favourite stories to share and help us honour Mark’s life with a tribute.
In memory of Mark and his kind and generous nature, we ask that you consider making a memorial donation to the Beaver Valley Outreach directly or through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted. www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

I’m incredibly sorry to hear kids that you have lost your Dad he was a very special person, and will never be forgotten.
Not only was he your Hero and your rallying support and voice of defence, he was also that hero to many, a friend to the friendless and loyal to all he considered his family.
Your dad Mark had a heart of gold, a great sense of humour, and a sincere smile that could lift any sad heart.
Treasure all your good memories always and never ever forget how very much he loves and adores you and believes in you and wants each of you to live-a good, healthy and happy life.
I hold you all in my thoughts and prayers,
Meigen Anderson.

To the Woolners and the Pyatts – When we heard from Ginger about Mark’s death we were so sad. We talked over the weekend of times past and how everyone was related – complicated! It certainly is a life lost too young. May you find peace in your pain. Thank you for naming Beaver Valley Outreach for charitable donations.

Thank you for your condolence message.
It was Mark’s children that chose the charity. They wanted it to be a charity, that would benefit the community their dad grew up in and loved so much.

I’m not sure what to say, except that I am in shock and deeply saddened for everyone that loved him. I was not close to Mark, nor do I know any of his family. I met Mark about 6 years ago when I moved up to Thornbury. I was on my own for a while before my family joined me and I spent some time at the Corner Cafe to meet other people in the area, watch some basketball or hockey games, and not miss my family that was not up here with me yet. Mark was the first person I met there. The first person I talked to. The first person to have a conversation with. The first person to ask if there was anything he could do for us as we moved up from the city. His heart seemed as open as his smile and you just knew it was totally genuine. I saw him there on occasion and he would always remember me, as I remembered him. We would just start talking about what was new, work, and most of all his kids that he loved so much (I could just tell by the way he lit up when we talked about our kids). He had such a positive energy and attitude that you couldn’t forget. He did come to our house to get something done for us, and my wife (who met him only once at that time), could describe him still when I just read this obituary to her. Flip flops, a great smile, and just someone that wanted to help. I can’t believe I’m seeing this obituary for the first time in the Aug 2nd “The Review” paper that we get. The celebration of life has passed. I would have come to pay my respects to the family and most of all his kids. I know it has to be tough as hell but please know from me, someone that barely knew him, that his kindness, willingness, openness, and friendly personality made an impact on me enough that I wanted to write something to you all. I am so, so, sorry that I wasn’t able to pay my respects and give you all my condolences in person.
