Dennis, Patricia Margaret 'Patsy'

Patsy passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 10, 2021 in Thornbury in her 85th year.

Born on September 20, 1937 in Toronto, ON, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy (nee Coldwell) and Grenville Hobson, and a sister to Janis Hobson (Gary Hails) of Toronto and Dale Hobson (Darlene) of Frankford, ON.

Patsy was married to William ‘Snuffy’ Dennis for 25 years until his death at the age of 54. Together they raised a family in the Beaches and later, Clarksburg.

She was the dear and beloved mother of Leslie McLean (Tim Marchand) of Walter’s Falls, Darrell (Erin McIvor) of Clarksburg, Shannon (Will Walker) of Penetang, and Bill (Sarah Bright) of Clarksburg.

Patsy adored her grandchildren and was infinitely proud of them. She will be missed Landon McLean (Katja Pelkonen) of Whistler, BC, Megan McLean (Mike Wilson) of Whistler, BC, Casey Derrick (Eric Brown) of Collingwood, Corbin Derrick (Tori) of St. John, NL, Maxwell Dennis, Lily, Sadie and Lara Dennis of Clarksburg, and Amanda Kaden, Kate Navarro, Virginia Skuce, and Matt Harwood (Melissa).  She will be remembered fondly by her niece, Adelade Hobson.

Patsy loved to participate in life! She was a resident of the Toronto Islands while growing up. She sang with the Sweet Adeline’s both in Toronto and later with the Thornbury Chapter.  Patsy adored all types of music.  She was an accomplished skier and tennis player, a renowned quilter, knitter and seamstress.

She made a friend of everyone she met, and loved to laugh and make merry with family and friends both old and new. Patsy loved the community and touched many hearts and souls during her life journey. But most of all, she loved her family.

A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at the Marsh Street Centre in Clarksburg on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 1 until 4 p.m.

    Leslie, Darrell, Shannon, and Bill;
    Very sorry to hear of Patsy’s passing. I will always remember how friendly and supportive she – and your Dad – were of a certain little music group. Always so welcoming and friendly. Been much too long since I saw her but the memories have certainly brought some smiles along with the sadness. I am thinking and praying for you guys and your families! Cherish those memories!

    Pat was a true and dear friend for many years. It saddens me that I was not able to see her during these covid times. I’ll always remember her love of Jazz by the Bay where we spent many fun evenings and, of course, our Sweet Adelines journey. She was indeed a fun and lovely woman. My condolences to all of you.

    Leslie and the whole Dennis family, so sorry for your loss. I have some wonderful memories of times spent with Patsy and just received a picture with her that another friend came across a few weeks ago. We laughed a lot and I so enjoyed her company. Hi Leslie, Darrell, Shannon, Bill & families!
    Pat was a wonderful lady and you will miss her so much! I have great hockey memories of your Mom & Dad & of parties at your house in Clarksburg. When Derek had the business in Clarksburg, I would often see your Mom when she came in for her bottles of water! She always had that special smile & usually a joke or two to share! Enjoy your wonderful memories – they will keep her alive in your hearts!

    All the members of the BVAA Ladies group that worked at fund raisers, manning the food booth , the figure skating club, and many other community groups were much more enriched with Pat’s involvement and willingness to contribute her time and talents. Her community spirit was inspiring to
    many.

    I have very fond memories of Patsy. Sitting on your back porch with your mom and dad and laughing. There was always a group of people there with lots of family present. Many good times.

    Even until a few years ago we would talk about sewing and her laugh. The most amazing laugh…..

    Keep those memories ….thinking of you.
