Watters, Rosalind Marie "Roz"

October 20, 1951 - April 16, 2024

On Tuesday April 16th, after a short battle with leukemia, our Rosalind Marie passed away peacefully with the love of her life, Lanny, by her side at the Victoria Hospital in London at the age of 72.

Born in Toronto on October 20, 1951, the daughter of Russell and the late Donna (nee Stone) Bell.

Roz’s career started as an assistant librarian in Etobicoke. Roz and Lanny moved to Meaford where she got a job at the library. Roz also worked at other businesses in Meaford such as, Bill’s Valu-Mart and GBSS with Lanny.

Roz was always forming lasting relationships. She was a non-judgmental, genuine, kind soul. She loved her girls’ getaways, a good book, the many dogs she has had in her lifetime, and her backyard. But more than anything, more than life – she adored Lanny, her love and soulmate.

Rozzie was predeceased by her much-loved son Jeff and her niece Taylor, who were waiting in Heaven for her.

She is lovingly remembered by her brothers Don (Jacklyn) and Chris (Jessica) Bell, as well as her Mother-in-Law Anastasia Watters. She will be missed dearly by her nephews Travis and Wolfgang Bell.

Remember in Rozzie’s way: “Here’s a little ditty: Wherever you may be, keep your Bippie free.”

There is a great need for blood and plasma donations in Canada, a cause that was near and dear to Roz, so, as per her wishes and in honour of Rozzie, please donate blood.

All are invited to gather to celebrate Roz’s life at the Harbour Pavilion in Meaford on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 1 until 4 p.m., with tributes shared at 2 o’clock.

As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter or Canadian Blood Services would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON   N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.   www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca

    Lanny, Chris, Don, and Anne…

Im devastated by this loss, and I wish I could wrap my arms around all of you right now. My sincere condolences to all the family and friends.

We loved Roz and a huge hole will be left in many hearts. I will miss coming around the corner of the house and surprising Roz just to be welcomed by her tossing her book down so fast and screaming of my name and she ran towards me and the bear hugs that ensued. I am glad that she got to meet Rob. She was always like another mother and she will be missed and fondly remembered.

I will remember all the wonderful memories that Lanny, Roz and Myself have shared over the last 30 years!

As sad as this is to know she is no longer suffering and she is once again side by side with Jeff & Taylor brings happiness in all the sadness.

Again from my family to yours, Rob, Nan, Mom, and all the family…we send our love and condolences.

    Sending love Lanny

    Dear Lanny and family,

We were so saddened to hear about Roz. She was such a friendly woman with a big smile and a delightful laugh. We loved when she worked at the library and then at the grocery store. Our daughter Teegan always has many memories of her too. Roz loved you deeply, Lanny, and she loved all the students whose lives you both touched.

We send our thoughts to you,

    Lorene Taylor and Quentin Docherty

    Dear Lanny

Sometimes, there are just no words that will help with the grief. However, Roz was such a “hugger” I thought this poem would remind you that she will always be with you, even if it is in a different way.

    Hugs From Heaven

When you feel a gentle breeze
    Caress you when you sigh
It’s a hug sent from Heaven
From a loved one way up high.

If a soft and tender raindrop
    Lands upon your nose
    They’ve added a small kiss
    As fragile as a rose.

If a song you hear fills you
With a feeling of sweet love
It’s a hug sent from Heaven
    From someone special up above.

If you awaken in the morning
    To a bluebird’s chirping song
    It’s music sent from Heaven
To cheer you all day long.

    If tiny little snowflakes
    Land upon your face
It’s a hug sent from Heaven
    Trimmed with Angel lace.

So keep the joy in your heart
If you’re lonely my dear friend
Hugs that are sent from Heaven
    A broken heart will mend.

    by Charlotte Anselmo

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

Roz was an amazing person. She spent a lot of time and energy on the things and people she loved. She was kind and very easy going. Over the years she touched the lives of a lot of people, and watched many of the teens going through GBSS turn into adults. Thank you for being you. Lanny it hardly seems adequate but I’m sorry for your loss.

    Dear Lanny
I am keeping you close in my heart at this very sad time for you. Roz enjoyed life to the fullest with her beautiful smile and a laugh that invited everyone to join her. Roz was such a caring person and helped everyone who needed her. We always had some good times in the GBSS kitchen when Roz came in to work ! Lanny when we were surrounded by teenagers in the midst of their dramas and relationship challenges, I always thought that you and Roz provided an example of a true, caring and supportive relationship. Quite simply you had each other’s backs, you were always there for each other with loyalty and love. Roz was always so positive, finding laughter and contentment and things that brought her joy and I feel blessed to have known her. Hold your memories close Lanny; your Roz was a beautiful woman inside and out.
    Take care of yourself Lanny

So sorry to hear of Roz’s passing.
I met Roz after crashing into her…literally, I was 17 and mortified but I could not have crashed into a sweeter person. I could hardly believe that this woman whose van I had just rear ended was consoling me while I was calling my parents. Very shortly after the car accident Roz began working at Jim’s Valu Mart where I worked and I thought that might be tough, I was so happy to have been so wrong. I have very fond memories working with Roz, she was such a fun, kind and genuine soul.
My deepest sympathies for your loss.
